|Supreme extreme Noise Rockers WHORES have lined up the release of their cranium crunching debut studio album ‘Gold’, an awesome collection of unforgiving, pissed-off metal-tinged tirades, on Steamhammer / SPV, on October 28th.
Since their inception in 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia, Christian Lembach (vocals/guitars), Donnie Adkinson (drums) and Casey Maxwell (bass), have established Whores as one of heavy music’s most distinctive acts, thanks to their crushing live shows and no-holds-barred punk rock attitude. Whores have toured throughout the U.S. with acts such as Red Fang, Torche, Iron Reagan, Deafheaven, Black Tusk, Floor, Retox, Kylesa, The Atlas Moth, Zozobra, Royal Thunder, Fight Amp, Lo Pan, Coliseum, Obliterations, and wowed festival crowds at the likes of SXSW, Spillover Fest, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and many more.
The band’s debut ‘Ruiner’ EP brought a welcomed new vision to the often–tired ‘extreme music’ scene. Sputnik music raved “Despite its noise-rock roots, nothing about ‘Ruiner’ comes off as inaccessible: its unrelenting noisiness carries as much purpose and direction as its songwriting, meanwhile maintaining enough of their “Fuck-Off” attitude to lend the album its cutthroat allure. It vividly recalls and rehashes all of punk-rock's most essential mantras and motifs whilst supplementing them with some seriously pulverizing neo-monolithic riffage, cementing ‘Ruiner’ as an end-of-the-year record worth delving back into a now retired 2011 for!” in their end of year round-up.
2013’s six track ‘Clean’ EP, recorded by Ryan Boesch (Helmet, Tomahawk, Fu Manchu, Melvins), which sold out within a month, was proclaimed as one of Spin Magazine’s ‘Best Metal Albums Of 2013’; Spin also voted Whores as one of the “must-see” bands at the 2014 SXSW. ‘Clean’ is now on its fifth pressing.
Despite a cavalcade of anticipation for ‘Gold’, Whores’ debut full length album, the band took their time, resisting pressure and expectation to maintain authenticity. Christian Lembach explains that “You have to bring a sense of realness to [the music], otherwise it’s fake, and it sounds fake. You have to be honest about it, and it’s about getting to the really ugly stuff inside of you, and that’s what we do.”As a result, ‘Gold’, oozing with ferocious, primal power vocals, jaw-dropping technical precision, rhythmic melodicism, gigantic walls of fuzz and a thunderously colossal low-end rumble, effortlessly exudes that genuine malice.
‘Gold’, Whores’ massive landmark debut, which is all set to blast this ferocious trio into rock’s fiery stratosphere, will be released as a DigiPak CD, 180 gram clear white vinyl LP (with complete album CD in a cardboard sleeve) and download.
