*** New Studio Album 'The Devil In Me' Released 26th March on Steamhammer / SPV***
Pioneering American rock vocalist and musician Suzi Quatro has confirmed the release her superlative new studio album, 'The Devil In Me', on Steamhammer / SPV on March 26th as a Digi Pak CD (+ poster), double gatefold 140 gram black vinyl LP (with printed inner sleeves), download and stream.
There's no doubt that it's got to be a very special release for Suzi Quatro to announce proudly that "'The Devil In Me' is the best album in my career to date!"
Suzi attributes the remarkable creative explosion which produced 'The Devil In Me' to, on the one hand the lockdown, which kept her from her usual touring life in Spring 2020, and on the other another collaboration with her son Richard Tuckey, which had already worked out extremely well on her predecessor album, 'No Control'.
Suzi recalls; "Starting spring 2020, almost one hundred of my shows were cancelled and Richard would also have been on tour with his band had not all concerts been cancelled or postponed. So I said to him: 'We should make the most of our free time, write new material and allow ourselves to be inspired by the things that are currently going on in the world.' I already knew that Richard and I make a brilliant team, after all 'No Control' had been a major success and a very special recording for us. Although I would never have thought that we'd be able to surpass it. But everybody who's heard 'The Devil In Me' and all the people who had worked on the previous album have told us: 'This album is even stronger!'"
Suzi Quatro, now in her 57th year of writing and performing, certainly knows what she's talking about. Since the beginning of her career as a 14-year-old singer and bassist she has achieved almost everything a musician could possibly hope to achieve. Her charismatic voice, her powerful bass style and global hits such as 'Can The Can', '48 Crash', 'Devil Gate Drive', 'If You Can`t Give Me Love', 'She's In Love With You' and 'Stumblin In' made her a rock music icon in the 1970s. To this day, her motto is: "I won't retire before I turn around, shake my ass and there's silence."
That this moment is still a long way in the distant future is partly due to 'The Devil In Me'; "I have to confess that I could hardly wait to work on new material again with Richard after the release of 'No Control'," Suzi explains. "Every album has its own creative history and I know that it's impossible to plan success. But Richard and I were certain of one thing: We knew we'd be a good team again."
And every single note on 'The Devil In Me' proves just how good this team is. The album presents Suzi's full range of musical diversity plus a number of surprises. From rock tracks such as 'The Devil In Me', 'Get Outta Jail', 'Motorcity Riders' and 'Hey Queenie' ("these four songs are typical of me and continue the tradition of my 1973 debut album") to fairly unusual numbers such as the pub atmosphere-inspired 'Isolation Blues' with its intimate mood or 'In The Dark' which is accompanied by elegant piano and provocative saxophone sounds, Suzi presents herself from a whole range of different aspects. "Richard wanted this album to have a through line, so that you could put any track on, and it just fit... he also said he wanted this album to be as important and ground-breaking as my first one. So that is how we approached this project, and that is what we accomplished."
'My Heart And Soul' shows just how creative Suzi and Richard could be - it's without a doubt one of the most beautiful Christmas songs of recent years. Says Suzi: "I have a little studio at my house. Richard was in the studio working on ideas, I was sitting on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio, mask on of course, it was like a magnet. I asked him: 'What is this?' I told him to set up a microphone, I said: 'Quick, quick, quick!' And without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first for lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That`s when you know you have a great song... and we do!"
'No Control' won a slew of rave reviews when released in March 2019 on SPV. The Daily Express' Paul Davies stated "Sweet little rock 'n' roller Quatro keeps the faith on this rocktastic release. The lady who rocked Top of the Tops with 'Can The Can' and 'Devil Gate Drive', is back on top form with an album of diverse songs and stonking rockers. The stone cold grit of title song 'No Control', 'Macho Man' and 'Heavy Duty' rock out and do exactly what they say on the tin. Moreover, her timeless voice and the reggae lilt to 'Love Isn't Fair' and 'Strings' prove that this undisputed Queen of Rock remains in total control'. Mojo's James McNair declared "Enduring pop icon draws on five decades of feistiness... this is Quatro's most consistent LP in yonks". Classic Rock's Everett True proclaimed "For many, Suzi Quatro is the living embodiment of rock", concluding emphatically that "The lady has still got it".
'The Devil In Me' is an album that - you can't help but agree with Suzi - probably has turned into the best of her career!

***New 'My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Xmas)' Single & Video Released Today on SPV Records***
Trailblazing American rock vocalist and musician Suzi Quatro's brand new Christmas single 'My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Xmas)' is released today, December 4th, on all digital platforms via SPV Records. A touching, heart-warming video for the song has also just been unveiled
Even in the highly adrenaline-fueled music business, it's rare to find a bundle of energy and talent on a par with Suzi Quatro, the multi-million-selling female rock pioneer who has enjoyed over 56 years of unrivalled success. With hits such as 'Can The Can', '48 Crash', 'If You Can't Give Me Love', 'She's In Love With You' and 'Devil Gate Drive' she became an icon in the seventies, and remains so to this day. Suzi's hugely accomplished current album 'No Control' was released in March 2019, prior to a sold-out ten date headline UK Arena tour, ensued later in the year by the massively acclaimed documentary 'Suzi Q The Movie' in October 2019.
Suzi explains how 'My Heart And Soul (I Need You Home For Xmas') was created: "So, lockdown had just begun. My son was in the studio working on ideas every day for our next album, a perfect opportunity as neither of us was 'on the road'. I was sitting on the patio, relaxing, and heard this absolutely beautiful track coming out of the open studio door. It was a bass line, with a sparse guitar chord, and drums. It was immediate for me. I ran into the studio (mask on of course), and told my son to set up a microphone, and without thinking, without writing anything down, I sang the first 4 lines of the song exactly as they ended up. That`s when you know you have a great song ... and we do. Merry Xmas everyone!"

Suzi Quatro says about the new song: "Everyone wants to know who the macho man is. I have known a few. They don't last long. This started with a riff from my son Richard. It's a real head banger from start to finish, in fact it's a real Suzi song!"

** New Studio Album 'No Control' Released 29th March on SPV/Steamhammer prior to 10 Date April UK Arena Tour**
Suzi Quatro, who more than lives up to her name as the "Queen Of Rock N' Roll", has signed with SPV / Steamhammer Records to release her stunning new studio album 'No Control' on March 29th, preceded by the lead single, 'No Soul/No Control', on 15th February 2019.
The American rock vocalist has enjoyed success as a musician for more than fifty years, performing with unbridled energy her greatest hits such as 'Can The Can', '48 Crash', 'If You Can't Give Me Love', 'She's In Love With You' and 'Devil Gate Drive', let alone wowing her fans again and again with her new material. It comes as no surprise that she's not thinking of retiring; "I'll retire when I go onstage, shake my ass and there is silence" she states, fully aware that that moment is still a long way off.
The majority of 'No Control', which contains eleven brand new songs, (plus two bonus tracks), consists of collaborations with her son from her first marriage, Richard Tuckey. Suzi explains "This was our first attempt at writing and recording something together. The creative progress began with 'Don't Do Me Wrong'. And, through the unusually beautiful English summer of 2018, we sat outside, acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, iPad recording app, and lots of paper, throwing ideas back and forth." With amazing results, as the new album proves – to Suzi herself not only on a musical but also on a personal level.
Take, for example, 'No Soul/No Control', which features the message "Don`t let go of yourself for anyone"; Suzi: "This is my personal mantra. All you have in this world is you." Remembering the conception of the composition, she says; "We were busy as hell, buried in the songs. Richard had a new idea and showed me. It was very unusual and I liked it. A very basic guitar and drum track was put down for me to work on the melody and lyric. I went into the living area of the studio and about 15 minutes later, it was done. It flew out of its own accord, as the best songs do."
The same applies to numbers such as 'Macho Man' (Suzi: "It's a no-brainer that this is an opening live song; you cannot help headbanging to it, it just grabs you"), 'I Can Teach You To Fly' ("a definite throwback to the sixties"), 'Easy Pickings' ("I've been playing this riff on acoustic guitar forever, at least the last ten years. Then all of a sudden, it became a song") and 'Love Isn't Fair' ("Got this idea sitting in our Hamburg home. I wanted to create a Blondie-meets-Mavericks song, and I think I accomplished that").
Perhaps most unusual track on the album, 'Strings', has developed into a true little masterpiece during the studio recordings. Suzi: "This is all about the strings that tie our lives together. Great riff. I drove everyone mad singing nonstop in this weird voice 'Strings'. I couldn't get it out of my head, and – hallelujah – it came out in the recording exactly as I'd imagined." Then saxophone player Ray Beavis asked if he could do a horn arrangement. "I didn't really hear it, but of course I said yes. What he came up with knocked us all off our feet. What a track!"
You can tell how proud Suzi Quatro is of 'No Control'; pride and delight at a career which has lasted for five decades and has maintained the creativity of the American rock icon to the present day. Suzi states "I've never stopped releasing through the years. 'Back To The Drive' in 2006, 'In The Spotlight in 2011', 'Quatro, Scott & Powell' in 2016. These albums were thought about and planned out in great detail. I am proud of all three releases, very proud. But my new album 'No Control' is its own animal."
