CREMATORY

***Premier German Gothic Metal Band's New 'Oblivion' Studio Album Released April 13th On Steamhammer /SPV***

Germany's primary gothic metal act Crematory have confirmed the release of their outstanding 14th studio album Oblivion' as a Digipak CD (+ poster), double gatefold (golden vinyl) LP (with CD in paper sleeve), download and steam on April 13th on Steamhammer / SPV.

Crematory have rarely sounded as multi-faceted and timeless as on 'Oblivion', packed with thirteen prime cuts of groove laden, keenly melodic, precisely recorded, utterly uplifting compositions. Drummer Markus Jüllich, who founded the band more than a quarter of a century ago, attributes this to new guitarists Tosse Basler and Rolf Munkes, who joined the band in 2015 prior to the recording of their last studio album, 'Monument', plus bassist Jason Mathias, who came on board just after the LP's release in 2016.

"In particular, the sound and the selection of songs reflect the impact our three new band members have had," comments Markus, continuing; "Tosse is a fantastic rhythm guitarist who adds even more diversity to the material with his clean vocals, and our lead guitarist Rolf enhances the record with his solos. Jason has added lots of drive to the deep frequencies, which is why we've consciously opted for a loud mix of the bass parts."

Furthermore, while Crematory main man Markus and producer Kristian Bonifer were busy working on the basics of the new recording at the Kohlekellar Studio, the band asked additional musicians Stefan Glass, Dirk Riegner and Walter Stobbe to contribute to the creative process. "Dirk comes from the indie genre and helped to add an important new nuance to the characteristic Crematory approach," Markus Jüllich explains. "Stefan Glass is a specialist for orchestral arrangements and Walter Stobbe is a real riff virtuoso on the guitar."

Stefan Glass's inspired orchestral arrangements can be heard on dark album opener 'Salvation', as well as 'Until The Dawn', 'Blessed' and ´For All Of Us'. Walter Stobbe's penchant for heavy metal features on 'Cemetary Stillness' and on the album's impressive finale 'Demon Inside'.

'Oblivion' is a thoroughly compelling and inventive album, which, while still boasting the band's classic trademarks, such as vocalist Felix Stass's deep growls and keyboard player Katrin Jüllich's soaring keyboard sounds, sparkles with fresh ideas and new influences. Markus notes that "So far we've had a special motto to set the direction of each of our albums, but 'Oblivion' simply combines all our strengths and experience. Over the years we've learned to blend different styles into the typical Crematory sound without ever losing sight of the importance of playing in a way that benefits our music. The motto "less is more" applies to our compositions 100 per cent. Crematory songs never lose themselves in exaggerated effects but always go the whole hog. That's partly due to the fact that we've remained very much down-to-earth."

CREMATORY

***Premier German Gothic Metal Band's New 'Live Insurrection' CD + DVD Released September 8th On Steamhammer / SPV***

Crematory, who have been Germany's leading and most popular Gothic Metal band for over 25 years, are set to release a brand new CD + DVD, 'Live Insurrection', on Steamhammer / SPV on September 8th.

'Live Insurrection' contains the band's entire 16 song (plus intro) show in front of 5,000 fans at the prestigious Bang Your Head Open Air Festival in Germany last summer, along with four video clips on the DVD from their thirteenth studio album, 'Monument', which was released in April 2016.

Before Crematory began working on 'Monument' in Spring 2015, the band had to first find a replacement for Matthias Hechler, their clear voiced guitarist, who left the band on amicable terms after 17 years in the line-up. Making a virtue out of necessity, Crematory enlisted not one but two successors; Tosse Basler (Scapegoat, Avalanche) who joined the fold as rhythm guitarist and clear vocalist, along with Rolf Munkes, Crematory's new lead guitarist. "Tosse and Rolf brought a breath of fresh air to the band, they really inspired us with their powerful style and phat guitar sounds," rejoiced drummer Markus Jüllich at the time.

'Live Insurrection', which will be available as a CD + DVD Digipak, plus download and stream, captures the band patently at their peak, totally reinvigorated and ferociously firing on all six cylinders.

'Live Insurrection is a glorious introduction to Crematory's music; brimming with brute guitar riffs over hard-as-nails drum grooves and sinister keyboard hooks, topped with their typical mix of growls and soaring, mesmerizing clear vocals - some in English, some in German.

CREMATORY

***Premier German Gothic Metal Band's New 'Monument' Studio Album Released April 15th On Steamhammer / SPV***

Germany's leading gothic metal act Crematory are set celebrate their 25th Anniversary with the release of their hugely impressive thirteenth studio album, 'Monument', as a DigiPak CD, double gatefold white vinyl LP (with CD in paper sleeve) and download, on Steamhammer / SPV, on April 15th.

'Monument' marks an unmistakable return to metallic toughness for Crematory, following the Mannheim band's excursion into EBM tinged territory on 2014's predecessor, 'Antiserum'. 'Monument', packed with brute guitar riffs and hard-as-nails drum grooves, replete with sinister keyboard hooks and the group's typical trademark mix of growls and clear vocals – some in English, some in German – is a rousing, resounding accomplishment.

Before Crematory began working on 'Monument' in Spring 2015, the band had to first find a replacement for Matthias Hechler, their clear voiced guitarist, who left the band on amicable terms after 17 years in the line-up. Making a virtue out of necessity, Crematory enlisted not one but two successors; Tosse Basler (Scapegoat, Avalanche) joined the fold as rhythm guitarist and clear vocalist, along with Rolf Munkes, Crematory's new lead guitarist. "Tosse and Rolf have brought a breath of fresh air to the band, they've really inspired us with their powerful style and phat guitar sounds," rejoices drummer Markus Jüllich, who composed the songs once again with producer Kristian 'Kohle' Bonifer, before co-producing 'Monument' at the Kohlekeller Studio.

The result is a gothic metal masterpiece, positively bursting with energy and sparkling with rekindled creativity. Strident album opener 'Misunderstood', for which a video has already been filmed, is probably the most metallic number of Crematory's career to date. The ballad 'Save Me', however, which Jüllich/Bonifer wrote prior to the formation of the new line-up, presents a stark contrast; "As far as I'm concerned, this number has an orchestral flair", Jüllich reckons; "It suits Tosse and his timbre perfectly."

A major milestone in Crematory's career, the new album more than lives up to its symbolic title with massive justification; each and every one of the twelve impressive songs contained is undoubtedly a real monument to the Crematory's palpable creative powers. 'Monument' will indubitably win Crematory, who have already been confirmed for the Bang Your Head Festival in Balingen, the Wave-Gothic-Meeting in Leipzig, and the Metalfest in Pilsen, a whole host of new fans once unleashed on April 15th.
