KILL DEVIL HILL

***HEAVY METAL SUPERSTAR BAND’S SEPTEMBER 25th LONDON GARAGE GIG CONFIRMED FOLLOWING RAVE REVIEWS FOR DEBUT ‘KILL DEVIL HILL’ ALBUM***

“On paper, Kill Devil Hill – featuring Pantera’s Rex Brown and Heaven and Hell’s Vinnie Appice, could seem the kind of ‘Supergoup’ loaded with pedigree, light on passion and out for a fast buck. Fortunately this self-titled debut begs to differ. It’s no reinvention of the wheel but but there’s no squatting in the comfort zone either. Vocalist Dewy Bragg’s angstily haunted performance and the assured swagger of the vintage rhythm section helps this echo classic Alice In Chains. Still, it’s veteran guitar-for-hire Mark Zavon who steals the show, his riffs on Dimebag and Iommi powering the high melody of ‘Mysterious Ways’ and ‘War Machine’s head-down attack. No doubt about it, these old dogs will burn out before they fade away. KKKK” (Sam Law, Kerrang! 25.5.12)

“On paper, Kill Devil Hill’s debut threatened to be a fairly predictable but yet powerfully delivered blast of Southern-tinged sludge rock. But it isn’t. Together with a relatively unknown duo of Jason ‘Dewey’ Bragg, once a vocalist with Pissing Razors, and Ratt sideman Mark Zavon, Rex and Vinny serve up some curveballs…Dewey has a confidant and versatile voice that renders his anonymity all the more unfathomable…From the anthemic hard rock of ‘Old Man Gates To Hell’s funereal beauty, there is much you’ll find to love here. 7/10” (Dave Ling, Metal Hammer, July 2012).

Kill Devil Hill, whose self-titled debut album received rave reviews on release at the end of May 2012, have confirmed a headline gig at London’s Islington Garage on September 25th. Kill Devil Hill comprise acclaimed drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, Dio) bassist Rex Brown (Pantera, Down), guitar slinger extraordinaire Mark Savon, (Scream Parade, Ratt, WWIII) and previously undiscovered killer singer Dew Bragg.

‘Kill Devil Hill’, released on Steamhammer / SPV, was produced by Warren Riker, (best known for his work with Down, Corrosion Of Conformity, Sublime and Cathedral), who has perfectly captured the eleven hugely potent musical punches of mesmerizing, killer groove and guitar hook-laden songs on the album.

While there are no ‘filler’ tracks on ‘Kill Devil Hill’, mention must be made of killer numbers such as “Hangman”, “War Machine”, “Rise From The Shadows” and “Up In Flames”, which feature contemporary and classic metal elements in equal measure, combining old-school and new perfectly.

There can be no doubt that Kill Devil Hill will be a musical force to be reckoned with for years to come. The massive potential that this new band has is obvious; ‘Kill Devil Hill’ is electrified throughout by a very special spark which draws the listener inexorably in, keeping them spellbound until the last monstrous musical notes fade away. Don’t miss the chance to experience this awesome band’s heaviosity live in London on September 25th!

KILL DEVIL HILL

***HEAVY METAL SUPERSTAR BAND’S DEBUT
‘KILL DEVIL HILL’ ALBUM RELEASED MAY 28TH
ON STEAMHAMMER / SPV***

Kill Devil Hill, the band newly formed by acclaimed drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell, Dio) and bassist Rex Brown (Pantera, Down), have signed with Steamhammer / SPV to release their exceptional debut album ‘Kill Devil Hill’ on May 28th.

‘Kill Devil Hill’ was produced by Warren Riker, (best known for his work with Down, Corrosion Of Conformity, Sublime and Cathedral), who has perfectly captured the eleven hugely potent musical punches of mesmerizing, killer groove and guitar hook-laden songs on the album.

Kill Devil Hill’s line-up is rounded out by guitar slinger extraordinaire Mark Savon, (Scream Parade, Ratt, WWIII) and previously undiscovered killer singer Dew Bragg, whose expressive, haunting, powerful vocals totally floored Vinny, (as they will you!) on first listen.

In 2009 Vinny cast about and found the perfect guitarist in Zavon, who was also looking to start a new band. Zavon played a demo that he had recorded with vocalist Dewey Bragg, and Vinny, who was blown away, states that “Dewey has a fantastic sound and has the perfect voice and image for this new band.” Dewey is a master of melody, with the gift of enhancing even the most jagged arrangements with his haunting vocals.

Rex Brown and Vinny Appice have been friends for many years; “Vinny is a brilliant drummer, and of course, I was immediately interested when he asked me whether I wanted to play bass on a demo tape he was working on” says Rex. Brown was sent “War Machine”, an aggressive up tempo tune which really gets down to business, and is the opener on the new album. Rex’s bass was the missing piece of the puzzle; his “on 11 at all times” bass style was a perfect fit, and completed the powerful rhythm section.
